Group Bookings & minimum numbers: If you have a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 10 we are happy to offer the trip on dates suitable to you. Guide ratio is maximum 1:10 so larger groups can be catered for if you would like to bring more people.
Fitness Level Needed: A challenging trip for those who can walk easily for 5-9 hours per day in the mountains. You can climb up to 1000m per day in mountainous terrain so please train for it and arrive fit to maximise your enjoyment.
Equipment: A full equipment list will be provided on booking. You will need: waterproofs; walking boots; a sleeping bag (carried for only half a day); trekking poles; and rucksack.
We offer three day to six day itineraries along this fascinating World War II escape route best known through "Freedom Trail" by Scott Goodall. A challenging trip for those who can walk easily for 5-8 hours per day in the mountains. Most treks start in France and finish in Spain meaning we travel back by car after the adventure. Trips are available Mid July - September. If you would just like to visit the Halifax bomber memorial site we offer this from June.
Day 1 Airport transfer from Zaragoza Hotel de la Val (Hecho) and/or Hotel Uson depending on numbers (D)
Day 2 Walk La Mina to Refuge d’ Arlet (B,L,D)
Day 3 Refuge Arlet –– Col de la Cuarde – Col de la Pau - Lescun camping gite/d’etape Lauzerte.
We see the commemorative route which climbs from Aumet over to La mina in Spain via the col de Cuarde. (25 places + camping) (B,L,D)
Day 4 Lescun to La Mina, Valle d’Hecho
Lac d'Ansabere and over the border into Spain just above the stunning Acherito Lake. From the lake 1 hour's descent brings you to the road in the Hecho Valley. Transfer to Jaca. Enjoy a celebratory meal. 11km B,L,D 3* hotel Jaca
Day 5 Morning transfer to Zaragoza airport. Afternoon departures from Zaragoza (B)
